Dear Fellow Workers:
Enjoying the summer sun? The sun can remind us of the real joy that we all have in the true “Sun of Righteousness” rising with healing in its wings (Malachi 4:2). In our synod’s new sermon book, In Jesus’ Name, we find this appropriate remark: “Our sins condemn us before God. But God in Christ has come like the morning Sun and evaporates the low lying clouds and the mist of our sin that hangs about us like a pall. Our sins are burned off before God, for the wrath toward our sin was all directed to his Son on the cross of our salvation” (p. 546). God grant all of you this wonderful Son-shine!

Pastors' Summer Institute
Pastors’ Summer Institute
A Pastors’ Summer Institute was held at Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary July 12–15. Professor Adolph Harstad presented on The Concept of Covenant and President Gaylin Schmeling presented on The Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements. Approximately twenty pastors were in attendance.

LYA Convention
Teens from throughout the synod gathered in Salt Lake City, Utah, the weekend of July 28–30 for the annual Lutheran Youth Association Convention. The theme for this year’s convention was Let Us Ever Walk with Jesus focusing on the three offices of Christ: Prophet, Priest and King.

National Teachers’ Conference
Lutheran Elementary School teachers from throughout the synod will gather in Washington, D.C., August 3–7. This is the first time all of our teachers will have a chance to meet together in over forty years. The theme for the convention is ‘Blessed With Freedom.” President Moldstad will be preaching for the 9:00 a.m. Communion service (Marriot Inn in Arlington, VA) on Sunday, August 6.

News from Chile
Two delegates from our Board for Foreign Missions recently returned from a trip to our Chilean mission field. The trip was made to discuss future efforts made at bringing the Gospel to the middle class. Sam Gullixson has returned from Santiago and will enroll in our Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary this fall. Rachel Myers will soon arrive in Chile as the replacement ESL teacher.

First Lutheran
Pastor Ron Pederson serves First Lutheran in Suttons Bay, MI.
Ron graciously hosted an evening cookout for members of his church and the Moldstads who were vacationing in the area.

Prayer Requests
Ruth Abrahamson, wife of Rev. Harvey Abrahamson, is recovering from surgery and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

Grace Berg, wife of Herb Berg the chairman of our Christian Service Board, is recovering from a recent fall in the Kissimmee, FL, church.

Please pray for our Lutheran Mission of Salvation – India (LMSI). Throughout the country of India many have been afflicted with the Chikun Gunya Fever. The fever is accompanied with joint pains that last for weeks at a time. A number of members from our congregations are suffering from this fever.
