President's Newsletter: June 2007
News from the office of the President in June 2007
Dear Fellow Workers:
We have just celebrated the wonderful festival of Pentecost where we were reminded once again of the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives as fellow Christians. A question from our catechism asks, “What does the Holy Spirit do to keep you in true faith?” (#196) Answer: “In order to keep me in true faith the Holy Spirit, through the means of grace, gives me an alert conscience, strengthens me in temptation, guides me into the truth, and comforts me with the grace and mercy of God.” The first passage listed under this question is Romans 8:14, “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” We pray that God the Holy Spirit pours out his grace upon each of you as you labor in the Lord’s kingdom, and we also ask that he shower blessings upon our synod as we seek to do his holy will in leading all to the living water of Christ our Savior.

Obviously, we are very happy to welcome Dr. Holbird and his family to the Bethany community.”

Prayer Requests
Please keep in your prayers the family of Rev. Dennis Schmidt and also the family of Rev. Paul Zager. Both Dennis and Paul lately experienced the deaths of their fathers. As we think of our risen and ascended Lord, may all take comfort in the words of Jesus to Martha: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." John 11:26
Please pray for the family of President Dan and Kathy Bruss. On May 23, 2007, Mary Moldstad, wife of the late Robert Moldstad and mother of Kathy Bruss, passed away. We pray that God comforts the family with the promises of everlasting life in our risen Savior.
We also ask that you continue praying for Lois Halvorson, wife of Rev. Wayne Halvorson, as she continues her struggle with cancer.
