Stephen Schlicht (WELS) preached the sermon, the Rev. Tosten Skaaland served as liturgist, and the Rev. John Smith conducted the rite of installation.

Florida Mission Rally Meets in Naples.

Sixty-one ELS members met on November 6, 2004 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Naples, Florida for the semi-annual meeting of the Florida ELS Women’s Mission Society. The Rev. Gregory Schmidt, host pastor, delivered the opening devotional address based on the rally theme: “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.”

President Sherry Duin introduced the speakers, the Rev. David Lillegard, who talked about his year of mission work in Chile, and ELS Missions Counselor the Rev. Steven Petersen, who informed the ladies about the mission opportunities that the ELS has in India. Debre White sang a solo after the morning presentation.

During the business meeting the ladies were informed of the $2,800 raised by the Florida churches to purchase Christmas gifts for the Bethany Seminary students. A total of $2,508.88 was raised by the Florida ladies groups. It was resolved to send one-half of the total to CrossStitch projects and one-half to Southern Lutheran Academy. At the close of the meeting the pastors’ chorus sang.

The next mission rally will be on March 12, 2005 at Grace Lutheran Church in Vero Beach, Florida.
