Seven Ordained in Peru

Ordained in Peru are (l to r): Reverends Elmer Carrera, Edisoon Convercio, Jaime Cortez, Antonio Vílchez and Giovany Rivas.
The Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Peru over the last several months has had the joy of ordaining seven new Peruvian pastors. In all cases but one, the rite of ordination was administered by a Peruvian brother pastor. The new pastors include Edison Convercio in Huaraz, Antonio Vílchez in Año Nuevo, Elmer Carrera in Ancón, Ronal Rivas in Tarapoto, Giovany Rivas in Barranca, Santos Meléndez in Villa el Salvador and Jaime Cortéz as assistant professor in the Lima seminary. This brings the total of ordained men in the Peruvian church to 13. We rejoice over these gifts of God to his church and pray that he would bless their ministry.

Liberty in Christ
In Christ we all are truly free;
Our sins have been forgiven.
Christ lived and died and rose for us
So we can go to Heaven.
Believe on Jesus—what He’s done;
He suffered in our place;
He met all God’s requirements
And gave to us His grace.
Thanks be to God for His great love
Salvation now is free.
Thanks be to God for His dear Son.
Through Christ there’s liberty.
