Lutheran Youth Association Met at Bethany

This past July 26-29, 215 youth, along with 45 chaperones, converged on the Bethany Lutheran College campus for the annual Lutheran Youth Association (LYA) Convention. The convention theme this year was “Ceaseless Praise,” taken from the hymn, “Take My Life and Let It Be.” The convention hymn was “We Are Called by One Vocation.”

Convention Bible studies and devotions focused on a Christian’s vocation. The life of a believer in Christ gives unending praise to our gracious God, who has loved us in Christ. In whatever God-pleasing vocation the Christian is involved, we give glory to God through humble works of service in our day-to-day lives.

When thinking about one’s vocation, we all too often mistakenly focus on the question: How much money can I make in my vocation? The better question to ask is: How can I use the skills and abilities that God has given me to serve Him by serving others?

Make plans now to attend next year’s LYA convention in San Antonio, Texas.
